Our Story
Coconuts welcomed me every summer holiday to my grandmother's little village.
On the trees, in the kitchen, in the hands of vendors on the roadside cracking them open before you even finished asking.
When I moved to Britain I yearned for that, looked everywhere for that. The real thing. What I found instead was coconut water in cartons and generic coconut oil tasting of nothing in particular. It was not bad. It was just not home.
So I went back to the source. To the coconut heartland of South India, where young green coconuts are harvested before they mature when the water inside is at its most alive, where ripe mature coconuts are milled with love and care. After relentless search for over two years, I found a supplier who understood what I was looking for... A way to bring it to British palette without butchering what what made it special. And I called it Thira... Malayalam for wave... Refreshing with every use...
Because that is what this is. Something that comes from a place, carries the character of that place, and reaches you with it intact.
We are a small brand. We are just getting started. But we are building something we genuinely believe in, one customer at a time.
